Lets take a breather and time to unwind. This is one of my Led Zed favourites together with Whole Lotta Love and Stairway To Heaven.
It's called Black Dog. It's just an old fashion rock song for half centenarians like me.
Just listen and let go.

I have entire collection of Led Zep studio albums in MP3, if you are interested. I also have entire collection of Pink Floyd's. Those are real music.
Hantutelor,
Glad to meet another Led Zed enthusiast. The problem with me is that when I grew up there was atussle between, Purple, Grand Funk, Black Sabbath, Iron Butterfly and Led Zed so I didn't get to buy many albums then since tak mampu. So my pertoire of Led Zed numbers were limited. Then I went to college where I switched to Malay songs so lost touch. Lani thru Ares and Limewire baru dapat balik all my old favourites. Pink Floyd, I tak sempat enjoy depa.
Salam Cikgu,
Yeah...now you're rocking my man! :)
All of them are my favourite....except Iron Butterfly??? Never heard of that. To add another one... Santana. Pink Floyd was from around the same era, but they are entirely a different concept. Maybe similar to the Beatles of the late sixties and early seventies. There are other rock bands in my list of favourites, but my taste in music did not develop much after the seventies.
hmm...my primary years. bila abang dengaq, adik-adik macam kena paksa dengaq jugak!
Che'gu:
My introduction to rock music was late by teenager standard. 1980 to be precise. In varsity.
Back in the mid and late 70s used to listen to rock songs whenever my cousin borrowed a pirated vinyl of rock compilations. have heard songs by Led Zep,Deep Purple and Grand Funk but didn't know about them.
In varsity mat rock friends from Johor and Kelantan introduced me to Led Zep,Deep Purple and other bands like Iron Maiden,Black Sabbath,Joe Satriani and so many others but most are not to my liking. And of course the main staple of the 80s rock-Scorpion.
But when my KLite friends introduced Pink Floyd,Queens and Police and dire Straits I knew I'm in something good.
Like hantutelur I have a complete mp3 collection of Pink Floyd plus several VHS and VCD of their concerts.
Another source of rock in those days(in MU) were the frequent rock showcase by local bands in the campus.
Taking a break ..to me..is "INTERMISSION" time...like watching a 4 hours movie....with intermission.
Intermission music is soft...melodies and soothing.
This is like waking up a person..about to die...cannot die.
It is not my cup of tea..but glad ....so many love it...and seeing hantulelur agrees with kata tak nak...makes my day happy.
I notice..most Malays love loud music....while Chinese goes for vocal controls..and Indians love anything that can make them dance.
I can listen to Louis Armstrong ...'what a wonderful world"....over and over again.
This one..once is enough....but I love Santana too!!
This one is something different, closer to home and is a gem...

cikgu, have you heard about the urban legend behind the song stairway to heaven? the legend has it that if the song is played backward, it was claimed to have a message about worshipping satan or something of that shit. i wasnt convinced but feel free ti try and check it out-

Shah,
Kepp on rockin man
Hantutelor,
Yes, Santana and their black magic woman, evil ways, jinggo, samba pati, and many2 more. I guess I am almost like you, after the 70s the taste remains the same maybe with some exceptions here and there.
Accia,
Saya sama taste dengan arwah abnag sulong. Tadi tengok Uriah Heep teringat dia menyanyi lagi2 Uriah Heep dengan band dia dulu dengan rambut panjang ala-ala blackmore dia.
Doc,
Saya takada apa-apa collection pun yang ada pun yang di download dari internet semua mp3 about 2 ke 3 ratus lagi various artis termasuk yang jepun dan korea dan filipina.
To me intermission need not be soft music. Soft music has it's time and mood.
Kerp,
I have heard of such thing but I didn't know it was Stairway to heaven
Oh yes... Uriah Heep. One of those underrated bands. But their love songs really syahduuuu....
It seems that during the 60s and 70s it's been a trend for those supergroups to insert hidden messages in the vinyls, normally backward messages. Pink Floyd, the Beatles were known to practice this, so was Led Zeppelin. But in Stairway to Heaven it was not a backward message purposely inserted into the song but it was the vocal itself when played backward sounded mysteriously like satanic chants. Very creepy, but the bandmembers claimed a long time ago it was just incidental. In fact if you listen hard, it was just meaningless mumblings but unless you tell your mind to mean something.
Ironically, it was said the real lyrics of the song that carry sublime messages to suggest indeed it was sort of a tribute to Satan (which I hope not since Stairway to Heaven has always been my most favorite song), especially the phrase "look to the West" which they claim to mean "worship the Satan/Lucifer". Na'uzubillah!
IMO, it's just the work of conspiracy theorists.
You know what? Stairway to Heaven is not as mysterious and the urban legend of the Beatles in which they said the original Paul McCartney was dead by severed head resulting from a car accident, and the evidence/proof can be found in album cover arts and songs of the Beatles' subsequent albums. So this guy with Linda (the Wings) was once a Canadian Policeman, Paul's lookalike and replacement. A good Ripley's material.
There you see...listening to weird music..gives you weird ideas.
Haunting music....makes you feel..a ghost is sitting beside you...listening too. Look at IT...it smiles to you...with red long tonque and long long black hair.....about to suck up your blood.
Any song.....play backwards..will give you a message.that is....if your mind wants to think..there is a message....then it will be a message.
Never heard intermission music of this kind..in my life. Loud ...fast smoothing symphonic orchestra...yes.!! Yanni is the best!! Kitaro is more spiritual. Intermission music by these two.will get audience sit and relax...with eyes...ready for another 2 hours show again.
For me...any intermission....play.."What A Wonderful World".....one can feel paradise...love and more enlightened...to forgive and forget. That's the power of a song.
Want t be weird....see ghost or be nearer to Allah...your call.
Right now...kata tak nak have succeeded to get so many happy and excited..with the song.
This means..I am odd man out!!
Hantutelur,
Thanks you are very informative. It goes to show you are very well informed. To tell you the truth, all these are new to me.
Monty, I listen to all kinds of music too -- classical, jazz, new age, blues. But there is a certain genre that you really can identify with, like KTN and yours truly, we dig heavy rock of the 60s-70s. There are music/songs you can really appreciate like "wonderful world".
You should listen to George Benson too, for that matter. Or Neil Diamond or Springsteen. These people they have their causes, they don't play just for entertainment. You have to grasp the philosophy they put forward in their songs. Their songs are fulfilling, that's why I can't make myself to like local music/songs which I think are bland, with exception of perhaps M Nasir, Ramli Sarif, Kopratasa and few others.
Monty,
Okay the next time when I am plain tired of writing and needs to take a break I'll put in some slow music, what about Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles? I like that song.
I deal with music... business.. before you are born..hantutelur.
We know which band....solo artists...groups that have potentials and their back grounds....characters...are also known to us.
You listen....we invest and investors takes high risks...so must not make too much mistakes.
Yes...it is International artists..we are talking about.
From the local front...nothing much to shout about. Good wants take drugs or die of aids.
Malaysian sense of listening to music....is far far below par than Phillipinos and Indonesians. So there is nothing so
high class" in Malaysians...likes and dislikes.
I mix with International record company bosses for more than 15 years. The need to succeed ...to know which are good bands to promote....are our bread and butter.
Pink Floyd and Led Zep maybe great musicians....so are dozens more...but to sellers with millions of records sold.......none of them have reach that stage.
Bee Gees is the # 1 of all times....with Beetles....side by side.
Go enjoy your songs.
It's like smoking a cigarettes of the brand you like.....like beer and hard drinks....all have likes of different brands?? But put all together..you can find the most popular brands by smart choosers.
What I read here are
"special men"..from Malaysia....all Muslims...maybe all can play instruments...but non can make money out of music..except monsterball.......hahahahahahaha
thanks hantutelor. yes, very informative. apparently, even britnet spears' song has a hidden message if it is played backwards. but we could only hear are mumblings and nothing more.
another song thats famous amongst the UL's enthusiasts is Love Rollercoaster where it appears to have recorded a high-pitch screaming of a lady that was said to have been murdered when the recording was in progress. scary but i doubt if the story was true.
Honestly....I cannot recall that song....kat tak nk...but any slow number is suitable for intermission time. Modern days...Maria[??} Jones ..jazz numbers are great.
kerp's sharp cheek & tonque comment is noted.
This may frighten me....trying to be too smart to him.
Pinky does wonders for kerp.
