Can You Do This?

Whether we like it or not we have to take it, the fuel price hike that is, unless of course we get a new government which would not renege on its promise to bring down the price. So here's the deal. We will suffer in silent, okay, make it, I will suffer in silent, coz I can't speak for the others, if the government promises to do the following.

1. All government ministers must pay for their own fuel. Their children, wives and mistresses must also pay for fuel themselves. They must never accept anyone giving them treats of free petrol.

2. All government functions must not include meals for the invited dignitaries. At most only teh-o or kopi-o or mineral water. All ministers must eat either at home or at stalls. No minister or high officials are to eat at hotels or posh restaurants. Ministers must eat ubi kayu at least one day in a week.

3. The above people can never accept any invitations for meals, be it breakfast, lunch, high tea or dinner. In short, no belanja.

4. No gifts is to be given to any government officials and ministers.

5. There should not be any all expenses paid trips for holidays for any ministers, serving or retired.

6. No spouse is allowed to go for any official overseas trip and official overseas trip should be limited to only once in 3 months.

7. All government advisors do so for free. They could be given phone and broadband allowance.

8. The government promises to credit the savings they claim they would make when they raise fuel prices into a joint account under the name of the PM and the Opposition Whip. Only the parliament with a 2/3 support could approve any spending of this fund.

9. All government ministers and high officials must send their children to local government aided schools. If there are any studying overseas, they must be called back home immediately.

10. Government high officials and ministers must only drive Malaysian made cars. No Mercedeses, BMWs Ferraris and the likes. Not only are they banned from driving imported luxury cars, they and their spouses and children cannot own any.

11. Oh I forgot, all government ministers, MPs, ADUNs, Commission chairmen (like SPR etc) Ketua Pengarahs must declare the assets to the people, not to some idiot who would file the stuffs and let those files collect dusts. These declarations must be made public. This also over their spouses, children, parents and siblings. Lawmakers and state reps from opposition controlled states are also not exempted.

These are only some of my demands and I know some are doable and some are damn downright stupid but it makes me happy if they can do it. I also know they will not agree to even one so it looks like the war is not over. I will continue to make noise because I know in the not too distant future, I am doing to get hurt real bad with paying extra for fuel, food, electricity and the inevitable price increase of most other things and services. Am I wrong to make noise? Am I wrong to say out loud that I am not happy? Am I wrong to be skeptical of this regime?

You are not wrong Chegu, I support you all the way. This bastard govt regime just ignore the needs of people like us, who have no option but to suffer, no way to complain but to just take it miserably. Pak Lah fail as PM and he's the worst ever. He fail to heed his late mother's advice. 5-6-08 is the beginning of the end of Pak Lah's bastard regime.

Anonymous,
I wish this is true, that his tenure is ending but not to be taken over by another UMNO one or a Mahathir backed candidate.

Let this also be a guideline for any new parties who are keen on setting up the new govt. New MPs, new leaders, new politicians. If not, won't be a surprise the same vicious cycle will repeat itself. Good people form good govt, it doesnt have anything to do with whatever party they are representing per se. But what I am afraid is the fact that politicians will always be politicians and we might end up kena screw also in the long run with these new people anyway.

Danial,
I agree strongly with

"Good people form good govt, it doesnt have anything to do with whatever party they are representing per se".

Now we have to look for the good people, we have seen the bad ones.

cikgu! I love your suggestions. Hope they would start making use of it. But you know what they say, as hard and beransur-ansur kita sendiri nak berubah gaya hidup.... People atas tu pun mesti lah lagi berat hati nak ubah gaya hidup diorang........ Ye tak.

Farzain,
Memang tepat tapi mereka yang cadangkan so mereka kena tunjuk teladan la kan?

i agree. however we still have to learn to adapt to this situation

kopub,
The reason the human race is still around is because it adapts as and when it is needed. We will adapt, that's for sure, but I for one would still be shouting.

The ministers, government officials be made to take public transport at least once a week to work. For medical attention, take a number at hospital and wait for half a day to see the doctor and collect medicine. Experience it before representing the rakyat.

Wishful thinking Chegu.

frankie,
I know these are things that they won't do, that is why I highlight them here.
The idea about taking a number at the hospitals is a good one.

Menteri dan orang atasan kena declare dan sertakan bukti secara terbuka tentang perbelanjaan mereka...kalau dulu ada screwdriver berharga sampai ratusan RM bila tender kerajaan, tak mustahil benda lain.

Baru baru ni Britain luluskan usul untuk dedahkan perbelanjaan semua Menteri. Baru tau sapa belanja banyak mana. Ini tak...semua nak tutup.

Salam Che'gu:

I agree with all your suggestions with some fine tuning here and there.

But knowing how these goons think, all these good ideas(for the rakyat)will never see the day.I don't think Jin Afrit can convince these goons.

About declaring their assessts, it would be nice if we can do it like the Senate commitee inquiry in the US.It should be make publicly with telecasting especially the Cabinet Ministers.Among the commitee members sholud be from the ruling party, opposition, credible NGOs,members of the law fratenity.

you forgot to stress on one thing. when the ministers were told to at least eat ubi kayu once a week, it should be eating ubi kayu during MEAL TIME. sekali seminggu pon tak cukup actually.

and get rid of all official cars please, thank you.

anonymous,
BN menang sebab banyak orang Melayu yang undi depa, lani depa buat naya kat Melayu pulak. Tak tau kenang budi langsung. Aku tak undi depa.

Unknown said...

sabran,
Ya saya lupa, depa kena buktikan mana depa dapat duit ni semua.

Unknown said...

Doc,
The rest of the cabinet will be holding a gun against Pak Lah's head if he agrees to all this. This mean they are rakyat biasa no more raja.

Unknown said...

Shah,
Forgive me for asking a stupid question but what happened in 1799?

Unknown said...

Hantu,
That was brilliant, real brilliant.

Kerp,
They must declare one day in a week the Minister Ubi Kayu Day.

Aku dok ingat Pak Lah ni cerdik, rupanya bodoh. Tak tau nak fikir sendiri, ni tentu idea jin dan monyet. Apalah punya sial dapat PM macam mangkuk hayun, bodoh nincompoop...

Ajit, Hang tulunlah aku bincangkan hal minyak ni,

All these items in the list serve to inculcate some degree of empathy and compassion in our top civil servants and ministers, qualities which they should already have in the first place to hold such high office.

Sad to say, most don't and this empathy gap serves to emphasize the differentiation between them and us, the struggling-for-survival rakyat. The haves and the have-nots, so to say.

I have always been a proponent of value-based recruitment and promotions, not setting aside the technical requirements of course, which brings out people who have their heart in the right place.

Most of our ministers and for the matter, the head of OUR Khazanah, probably have their heart in their ass!

Bayi,
Our leaders only have pockets, appetites and desires but sadly no hearts. We are paying for it.
