Can You Beat Death?

Are you afraid of death? Fear not because you can beat death, but there is a catch though: You have to die first.

Death Be Not Proud

Poem lyrics of Death Be Not Proud by John Donne.

Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not soe,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill mee.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

Salaam Chegu,

Nice poem Chegu.. beautiful lines -apakename?- stanza?

On the subject of Death, Chegu'. I'm always reminded of our mortality. Hopefully God in His Infinite Capacity extends us a long and fruitful life... many things to do still, places to go, people to meet, people to love.

To be honest, Chegu, I AM afraid of Death. And so of the other thing - TAXES. Hopefully, with all the recent 'exposes', taxpayers money would be handled with greater care. Now, I heard that people are already grumbling and some wish to avoid paying altogether because their money is going down the drain anyway. Lest they forget, evading taxes is against the law...

MS,
I am not ashame to admit that I too am afraid of death coz I am not ready yet. Belum cukup bekal lagi.

Actually the poet John Donne was a padri, who is also known as a metaphysical poet. It is a clever take on how death could be eventually killed.

Why, not all us taxpayers deduct a certain percentage because we are not happy with how our money is being used?

hi kata tak nak...I think both of us are not afraid of death...but will not court death in stupid way.
The way you write....you have the great commonsense to know..."life is uncertain...death is certain"
So why be afraid to die?
When you have to go,...you have to go.
