Everything Is About Politics

I have been busy since yesterday taking the school archery team (actually we got 2 archers and one chickened out so I am left with only one) for the Penang state school level competitions. Actually we don't have archery in school but we do have some archers hence the participation. I was roped in at the last minute to baby-sit our only archer.

What I am going to write is not about archery but about what happened at about 5.00pm today. Since my archer was with her friends from other school, I chose to sit under a shady tree beside the 30m competition zone watching some promising youngsters. They were quite good. Then an Indian gentleman about 40 came to sit beside me. He introduced himself to me and likewise I introduced myself. If this guy is an athlete he doesn't have to warm-up too much. He was the kind I would call ever-ready. He straight away told me that he was a taxi driver and that he also helped people in his free time or if he has extra money.

Then, just as I had guessed, he told me that he was an MIC branch chairman. Then he was bragging about how he helped the Indian community and how he has already got 3 awards for his services. It seemed that he is very close to Samy Velu. It was Samy who recommended all the awards that he got. Then there was a phone call. After the call, he told me that it was from the ADUN of Prai who called him. They had to discuss the coming elections. He was dropping names like ripe mangosteen dropping when vigorously shaken.

He knew just about every ADUN. He knows who is friendly with whom and who is not. He knows which candidate would be dropped and who wouldn't. It seemed that he is quite buddy-buddy with Pak Lah. He told me that Shariff Omar of Tasek Gelugor would be dropped and so would some other UMNO YBs whom he called 'sombong'. All the while he had assumed that I was an UMNO man and I didn't do anything to change his perception of me. Sometimes we could korek, korek, korek a lot from people like this.

He talked about the Chinese sentiment and also the Indians and he sounded quite unsupportive of HINDRAF. To encourage him on, I dropped a few UMNO ADUN's name. I told him that Datuk Jalil was a classmate of mine. He looked impressed.

Then I gave it to him straight in the face. I said, "Saya banyak marah sama ini kerajaan la". He was taken aback. I told him about how many people are also angry at the lying tendencies of this present leadership. I told him why the Malays are angry, why the Chinese are angry and why the Indians are angry complete with made up figures. They were not made up actually, I got them from blogs. Of course I do not know where those blogs got the figures from but who cares.

I told him about what people are writing in the internet. Suddenly he changed his tone. "Dia orang cakap itu macam dalam internet ka"? He never once questioned the authenticity of what I told him was reported in the internet.

Then seeing that I am not a government man, he revealed his disgust for the authorities. He told how the police violently treated the HINDRAF demonstrators and took out his camera to show pictures of the HINDRAF demo. He admitted that he attended the demo.

The competition ended for the day. While walking with me he told me how 63 parliament seats with a sizeable Indian electorate are in danger of falling because the swing in Indian votes are massive. He also said that many Indians do not care who the opposition is.. They would vote for DAP or PKR or even PAS. They don't care.

I don't know if his claims are true or he was pulling a fast one or if he was an SB. Just to share with you. What do you think? If he was SB, it is not the first time. My former Pengetua told me that he had 3 queries about me from people claiming to be from the Special Branch before.

Cikgu,
Those kind have forked tounge la. Can never trust them.
If they are really from the SB, they are trying to gauge the public support for their master the BN.

Salam Cikgu,

Hard to say...perhaps you could describe the expression of his face? But then, if he's a good SB, he would know how to lie even his face expression.

Hmm...perhaps you should have let your archer 'accidentally' aim at his buttocks! :)

cikgu,

the other day when i was sitting at one of the coffeshops nearby, 5 chinese fellas were sitting next to our table and they started to talk politics. one of them said this time around he would even vote for PAS because he wants a clean, uncorrupted gomen and praised TGNA for sticking to his belief. I swear to God i didnt make this one up. i eaves-dropped through out the whole meal and i dont need to korek at all.

Kerp,
I guess the sentiment now is that people are just fed up. If enough is willing to do this then we may be able to deny them the 2/3.

Cikgu, this is what I call lallang, and this guy is a real lallang with no firm belief and can be bought with just a pat on the back.

As for me, a Chinese, I will even vote for PAS if there is no DAP or Keadilan. My Adun, an MCA guy, real humble and hardworking guy, I have to say sorry to him, I like to support him very much but looking at Pak Lah's numerous poster by the roadside, makes me want to puke.

Why do we need so many Pak Lah's picture by the roadside? I was in S'pore a few weeks ago, I can't see their PM's picture being hung at the road side. When I was in Bangkok, except the pics of their King, there is no PM's picture or poster by the road side.

That is why I felt like puking, whenever I see Pak Lah's picture. I am going to vote for a cow if there is not opposition standing.

Frankie,
If for once we who are not happy with the gov, are willing to put our differences aside we could achieve the impossible. Lets do it.

Salam Che'gu:

I think this guy is really a small time MIC chairman in some taman or kampong. Small guys like this like to tell ppl(or show off) that they know the big guns.Hey, if he had brouhgt along his photo album he would have shown you his photos beside Samy Vellu or Pak Lah or DrM.

What he did was trying to impress you. When he knew your stand he somehow felt someone hit him on the head. Smalltimers like this like to be be accomodative with others to look good. Like someone said ealier, he is a lalang and lidah biawak.

Personally don't think he is SB. SB works quiet a different MO now.SB had been doing their assessment for the last 1 year. Now is the time for them to listen about the calon's potential and korek for the calon's problems. If its from the opposition calun, it can be use as a weapon to attack his character. If its the BN calun, ways will be look into how to counter any allegations during campaigning.

At the moment, we will hear a lot of dissatisfaction towards the govt be it from the Malays,Chinese or Indians. We've heard all this before in 2004. But do remember, BN will use all available resources and means to sway these grouses. There will be lots of promises this time esp in Penang and Kelantan.
BN knows what each races wants and BN will play along as long as they get the votes. Leaders of these races too will make use of the election to get at least partly of what they had wanted for their community.
However unfortunately the Malays are easily conned year in year out.
The same will happen this year.

If someone can list down what were the pledges and promises BN gave us in 2004 and list of what had been delivered then we can proof BN too cannot deliver their promises.

Doc,
Dia SB ka tak, I just got this nice feeling that they would be in for a surprise. I can just feel it. We may not take over the country but we will surely give them the scare of their lives.

Lee Cooper,
We need more pledges like this. Things are looking good.

chegu, if you are now on the sB list, welcome....at least I now have a companion. does SB have a penchant for teachers and ex-teachers?

Unknown said...

Zorro,
Let them put us in as many lists as they want. Teachers are train to tell the truth. We cannot lie to our students. That is wrong. 2+2 = 4. Thats it. We can't go around saying it is 5.
