Action please.

Shahrir wants petrol priced not lower than RM1.92

This is the headline I got from the thestaronline. The minister who uttered this irresponsible words is none other than Shahril.

He is so concerned that Petrol pump operators would incur loses should the price go down often that he has forgotten about the millions of petrol users who would lose out. He wants it to be a minimum amount. Should crude go down further it would help the government to reduce their subsidies, he said. Okay fine, what if crude down even lower than that? Is he going to justify his minimum price by imposing some kind of fuel levy?

As a leader, you should set a ceiling price on this very-very essential item and not worry about a minimum price. If the price of crude goes down, the price of petrol should go likewise..

He should be daring enough to come out openly and say that the government intends to withdraw the 30 sen subsidy (correct me if I am wrong) if the price of crude goes down not cloak his intentions with confusing statements.

As it is right now, he should not be overly worried about a minimum price for petrol. What he should be talking about -- not mere talk please -- is the price of other essentials.

He should be reprimanding traders who said that they can't bring down their prices now that petrol is cheaper. He should be sending his officers to check the whole country if need be on traders who indiscriminately rise prices even with lower fuel prices.

He should take those traders to task. They raised their prices citing more expensive fuel. He should use those words they used to make them reduce their prices.

He should take TNB to task for not reducing their electricity tariffs now that we have had 3 reductions already in the price of fuel.

We are not interested in promises. We want action. We have heard their promises before and we know what those promises are worth.

He should shut up more and work. He should work for the rakyat not for some few thousand petrol pump operators. Is it because many petrol pump operators are UMNO members that he is making this ridiculous statement?

Shahril, remember there are about 27 million Malaysians and many millions of vehicles but there are only a few thousand petrol pump operators. Where is your priority?

Cikgu, this Shahril is the one who brought this mess in the first place. Since becoming Minister of DTCA he brought up all this stupid plan and creating havov with his ad-hoc decision. He's no Minister material, just one goon lost in space.

Che'gu:

He can't lower it much more. The station operators are just his excuse and to pacify the dealers.
Truth is, if price goes lower, the industry's income will be much lower, hence less tax to the gomen. And less money esp to Petronas which is at present the golden goose for gomen to cilok( see Bakaq's posting).

As consumers, have we ever seen prices of goods came down with the drop in fuels price? Never.Already we have read here and there the food operators had said they can't reduce the food prices. Will the hypermarkets reduce their prices? maybe to SOME items and these SOME items most probably are not the fast moving ones.

Whatever it is, I don't think the rakyat got the best deal.

Paklah and Shahril made a BIG mistake when the raised fuel as much as 70 sen.Now they are trying to rectify their mistakes and trying to appear to be the good guy for all.

You want action? The only action they are interested in is their fat bank account.

mantra,
Its jealousy you know.Shahril is jealous that KJ's stupidity has made him famous so he thought he should come out with something stupid himself. Not that he has been saying clever things before this la.

When he was not in the cabinet he talked like a layman but once a minister he wants to lay us.

Ni minyak mahai baguih untuk saya Chegu. Sebab saya orang minyak tapi bukan macam dalam cerita P.Ramlee tu.Tapi sekarang dah murah, gomen pikiaq revenue sahaja, tak peduli Rakyat.

Betoi analisa Bang Bakaq ama Doc Acid tuh, dulu punya lah ghairah naikkan rega di pam secara mendadak. Meraih keuntungan berlipat ganda pabila rega jatuh mendadak kembali, maka tersenyum lebar lah Sharir & Co ...

Analisa mukatamd: Gomen 1, Rakyat 0.

P.S. Congrats on the addition of a new Khan and look forward to Pesta Blogger Sa-Malaysia Nopember Dua Sembilan.

he shouldnt be a leader in the first place. now that he is, he is one bad leader for not putting the rakyat first before everything else. it should be the only criterion for someone to become a rep to a community- server of the people. but knowing these fellas, even jawatan lagi penting dari segalanya. poodahh.

* missed quite a number of your postings cikgu.

1. congrats on your newborn Grand-nephew. eh cikgu, any possibility ke dato Dell akhbar khan related to your clan? another long-forgotten relative from german, Oliver Kahn...hehehe...

Maybe we are the one who should be blamed. We keep expecting the ministers to perform padahal, non of these so called ministers are qualified to even tie my shoe laces....

What to expect from a cabinet full of goons and bozos? One big happy circus that no one is really interested to see!

When they shot the price up 70 sen; it's doomed to the rakyat. Prices of other stuffs will skyrocket, no matter what the gomen says. Now it's too lil' too late. Can't reverse the process. I'm not against a floating process but how it's implemented. Too drastic and now we see the rakyat suffers!

Hi Cikgu... sorry been away from the scene for sometime.. :).

Well, trust the politicians... they do not care about the rakyat.. they care bout those businessmen who would fund their career and campaigns... these businessmen lose money there goes their perks... so Sharir is only playing the game all politicians play...

semuer pun satu geng... eurocopter.. 2.3billion? 1.7billion?? 1.1 billion?? 1.6billion? It amazes me.. everyday, the figure can change.. macam stock market..

Kerp,

Life is just not fair, price reduction too little, money shrinking every month and my Toto RM20 million prize money kena sapu. My EPF money also kena sapu and the PM and his minister cannot agree on the sum for the purchase of helicopter.

I think I try acting Cikgu.

Pak Zawi said...

Chegu,
Being involved in operating a petrol station once, it is not easy operating one. Petrol dealers will get a one off profit if they can sell those stock at an icreased pum price but vice versa they will lose money when selling stock at a lower sale price. Since their magin is fixed on per liter basis, they will benefit more if cost of fuel supplied to them is cheaper, the cheaper the better as their percentage of profit will increase compared to cost. When Shahrir suggested the floor price to be set at RM1.92 he wasn't thinking of the benefit of the petrol dealers. Assuming that their margin is at 12 sen a liter, they would be happy to sell it at 22 sen if his cost of purchase is at 10 sen a liter translating into a profit margin a whopping 120 percent. He would still make 12 sen a liter when his cost price was RM2.80 and he has to retail at RM2.92 thus making his profit a miserly 4.3 percent. They survive if they can get the volumes otherwise life is tough for them.
I hope you all can see my argument.

grretings cikgu.
y are u baffled my dearest cikgu? everything is possible in the land of malaysia boleh.dah tak heran dah cikgu.A moron spoke in parliment and said that the eurocopter deal was sealed without any physical inspection.Just go to ropewalk and observe how people inspect a RM1 barang before the even think of buying it and yet in bolehland the defence ministry can buy the billion dollar copters without even seeing them. hahahahahaha. MALAYSIA BOLEH MAH!

I say man,
Well lets send him there then.

Our Shahril lost his ball and drunk with power once he got the ministerial post. He is so worried about operator losing money. Why he didn't raise this issue when the price is increasing? Yesterday so many petrol station is out of RON97 petrol. This happen during the last price reduction too. They should just announce the price reduction just like the price increases so that those petrol station operator will keep regular stock.

Unknown said...

D'ayo,
Ya la dia dah tau harga nak turun dia tak order stock baru la. Kita ni mampoih takdak minyak pun depa peduli apa.

Unknown said...

mr. right,
kalau di bandingkan harga crude dulu, sekarang ni harga minyak kena 1.50 saja.

Unknown said...

benggap,
Then kita bagi dia Benggap Malaysian of the year.

Unknown said...

frankie,
We can't beat our ministers in acting. They are better actors, the best.

Unknown said...

Pak Zawi,
I understand so if crude goes really low they should be it down to below 1.92. Not only is the percentage of profit higher for the pump operators but with cheaper fuel people travel more and thus higher sales and more profits.

Unknown said...

anonymous,
I think they bought the helis after looking at brochures only la. No need to test, what is important is how much is the commission.

did u hear about TNB not really using petrol but gas? wonder why they are increasing their price...
